How long does it take?
This custom program will be conducted in
(1) – 4-hour group sessions
Specific modules have been chosen to meet your team’s objectives and are facilitated in an interactive learning environment:
- Who’s your Who
One of the most important aspects of speaking effectively is to consider the audience your message is being designed for and distributed to. In this portion of the workshop you will learn how to:
Design your message for a particular audience.
Quickly research the audience you are going to be delivering your message to.
Use a template of talking points that illustrate your main points.
- Do’s and Don’ts of Media Management
The first minute or two of the interaction you have with the media before the camera starts rolling is key to successful outcomes on-air. In this portion of the workshop you will learn how to:
Quickly develop a working relationship with the reporter
What to say and not say in the first minute of your conversation
Which questions to ask before the camera starts rolling
What is the definition of “off the record” and when should you use it with a reporter
What the reporter’s outcome is in doing an interview with you
- Dressing the part
One 10-15 second clip of you on-air can create a lasting memory to the audience that is viewing it. Knowing what to wear, and what not to, can make a big difference in the impression you leave. Here’s what you’ll learn how to do in this section:
Make the best clothing choices for being on camera
The best way to stand or sit when being on-camera
Direct the camera person to get the best shot of you
What to do when you know things are not going well doing the filming
- Let’s practice!
Each participant will be video taped giving a short interview regarding your organization. They will receive a private download of the video for review after the workshop has been completed. During the taping the instructor will assist the participant in making adjustments to create the best outcome on tape.
Facilitation of this program will be provided by Lynda McNutt Foster, CEO, Cortex Leadership Consulting. Lynda has more than 30 years experience in the creation of content for the media, production, and on-air appearances with major television and radio network outlets.
