Job Candidates are Customers.
not cattle.
Talented professionals are sharing horror stories about the process qualified people are having to go through in some of these new job application processes. It’s like they are cattle or something. Technology-driven processes that herd everyone together and then weed them out in some dehumanizing set of channel eliminating processes.
There’s a better way. I promise. Organizations don’t have to resort to these tactics. It’s old school and uncreative.
Job candidates are customers for the job you are posting. The best customers are going to become raving fans and attract other great customers to you and your brand.
Start thinking of your application process the same way you do when you are working to attract quality customers and you’ll start attracting great people to want to work with you.
The experience your candidate has will determine whether they apply, go through the process with you, accept the job and stay with you for an appropriate amount of time.
Most organizations spend a great deal of time thinking and training on how to treat their customers. All you need to now is give the same amount of care and attention to your candidate experience.
